LETTER: Chief of staff likes Groh/Deal slate

I am writing today in support of Angela Groh and Chris Deal for Government of the Student Body executives. I do not take this decision lightly, but rather with a strong idea of where each slate can help students.

More and more decisions that affect student life are being made at the university and state governmental levels. Groh/Deal is the slate in this election that can best represent students at these levels.

They are the only slate with an Iowa Page in Angela Groh — simply put, Angela has had a good working relationship with state leaders from both sides of the aisle since her high school days, and it shows with the success of ISU Ambassadors, Meet the Future of Iowa, Regents Day at the Capitol, and TAP Into the Future (all of which Angela started herself).

They are also the only slate that can claim any membership in the President’s Leadership Class. This is significant in that they are the only slate that has had a deep, working relationship with ISU President Gregory Geoffroy since their freshman years.

Furthermore, Chris Deal is the current director of academic affairs and has represented students very well to many university officials and the Faculty Senate.

We don’t need a set of executives that don’t have experience, we don’t need a slate that will simplify GSB at the expense of students and student representation, but we do need a slate that has the experience, leadership and relationships to represent all ISU students in the best possible way.

Because of this, I ask you all to vote for Angela Groh and Chris Deal on March 7 and March 8.
