LETTER: Regent’s Day shows Groh’s leadership
February 14, 2005
Sometimes as students we may find it difficult to find a voice. We may find it too easy to believe we are powerless. However, on Tuesday, several hundred students from all over the state of Iowa will shatter this illusion. They will do this by attending Regent’s Day at the Capitol 2005.
Regent’s Day at the Capitol is the brainchild of the Government of the Student Body’s Director of Government Relations, Angela Groh. It is designed to give students the chance to lobby our state leaders, particularly on the matter of tuition, and show them we do more than just sit in the classroom.
This year, the event will be attended by Gov. Tom Vilsack, the Iowa Board of Regents, Iowa legislators from all over the state, university alumni and hundreds of students from the Iowa universities. More than 500 people will be in attendance for one reason: to support higher education in Iowa. To support students. To support us.
Because of the boundless energy and endless commitment of Angela Groh, all these students will have the opportunity to find their voice. If you want to be represented by a leader who values student involvement and has already helped us make a difference, I encourage you to vote Angela Groh for GSB president in 2005.
