LINCOLN, Neb. — Curtis Stinson scored 11 of his 25 points in the final eight minutes as Iowa State went on a late run to beat Nebraska 65-60 Tuesday night.
Iowa State (12-8, 4-5 Big 12) won its fourth straight Big 12 game and its second consecutive league road game after ending a 28-game conference road losing streak at Texas on Saturday.
Nebraska (10-10, 3-6) lost for the sixth time in seven Big 12 games.
Stinson’s jumper with 7:50 left evened the score at 48 and Tasheed Carr’s 3-pointer less than a minute later gave the Cyclones the lead for good.
Nebraska made just one field goal in seven minutes as Iowa State went on an 11-2 run. The Huskers’ lone basket in that stretch, a Joe McCray 3-pointer with 1:35 remaining, cut Iowa State’s lead to 59-55.
Stinson’s free throws pushed the lead back to six. But McCray was fouled shooting a 3 and made the free throws to bring Nebraska to within three points.
Rahshon Clark and Will Blalock each hit a pair of free throws in the final minute to seal the Iowa State victory. The Cyclones hit 12 of 14 free throws in the last 4:32.
The Cyclones, who opened up a six point lead late in the first half and went up by as many as seven early in the second built their advantages by forcing 19 Nebraska turnovers.
Blalock had 16 for Iowa State, and Clark added 11.
McCray had a career-high 26 to lead Nebraska. Jason Dourisseau added 11 for the Huskers.
