LETTER: Regent Rokes represents Waterloo
February 7, 2005
GSB Vice President William Rock’s letter “Geographic balance important on board” (Feb. 2) contains a significant factual error. The Waterloo area, with a regent institution, does have a regent representative in Jenny Rokes. Regent Rokes, a senior at the University of Northern Iowa, lives on the UNI campus and is employed part time in a Cedar Falls supermarket, in addition to maintaining an outstanding GPA and meeting the substantial time commitment involved in being a regent.
Her legal residence is only a few miles west of Cedar Falls in Grundy County.
Regent Rokes has provided valuable service on the board, not only as a representative of student viewpoints but also in identifying potential efficiencies and additional revenue sources on the campuses.
I look forward to continuing to work with her on the Iowa Board of Regents.
