LETTER: Alliger leading effort for Council changes

During the Government of the Student Body executive debates last Monday, Henry Alliger made a good point in saying that students need to take ownership of their problems. In regard to recent issues between ISU students and the Ames City Council, some members of GSB are doing just that.

Nearly a month ago, Towers Residence Association senator Ryan Doll initiated a petition drive to change all City Council terms to two years. Since the petitions were turned in, Doll and Alliger have become the front men for students on this issue to city government. It is up to students to make this change happen when they vote April 5.

Actions and representation such as this are characteristics I expect from my GSB executives. Thank you, Henry and Ryan, for representing student interests on local issues. On March 7 and 8, I’ll be voting for Alliger and Sarah Walter for GSB executives, and so should you. Check out their Web site, www.simplifygsb.com, for more information on the candidates, and pay attention to local issues affecting students.
