LETTER: Stop protesting; support Bush
December 7, 2004
I am writing with respect to the recent war protest by college students in the Boston area. The students’ reasons for the anti-war protest deal with preventing more Americans from dying in the war in Iraq and improving the quality of life there.
They also have a goal of holding larger protests with the war in Iraq.
My opinion goes along with a Vietnam veteran who was involved in a counter protest. This man held American flags and a sign that stated: “It is the Soldier, not the Demonstrator, Who Gives You the Right to Protest, Support Our Troops.”
I am sick of everyone protesting the war. People can do what they believe, and they have a right to protest. I believe that even as a result of what happened in Vietnam and the anti-war protests going with it, the war in Iraq will end much differently.
Our progress in Operation Iraqi Freedom far exceeds the success of Vietnam. As U.S. citizens, our position to change the current events is limited, so why not just support our troops?
We need to support our president and trust him in the war on terror and that he will bring our troops home safely.
