After finishing her sixth season with an 8-21 record and 1-19 in Big 12 play, ISU head volleyball coach Linda Crum decided to resign from her position Monday. During her six seasons, Crum compiled a 39-135 record.
Crum and her husband, David, who is ISU assistant athletics director, gave birth to their second child in August.
“I want to have the chance to enjoy more time with my husband and our children. This was a personal decision, but it is where I want to be now. I have met many wonderful people at Iowa State University,” Crum said in a statement. “I especially want to express my gratitude to my assistant coaches and our student-athletes who make up our team. I’m proud of the team’s 3.2 grade-point average. It was a difficult decision, but it was the right decision for me.”
Crum is a Davenport native and 1987 graduate of Iowa. She served as head coach at Butler and Duke before coming to Iowa State in 1999.
Crum’s best season was the 2003 campaign, in which the Cyclones finished 12-19 overall with a 4-16 record in league play.
“We appreciate Linda’s contribution and service to Iowa State and our volleyball program,” ISU athletics director Bruce Van De Velde said.
“She has represented Iowa State in a professional manner and with integrity.”
