LETTER: ‘Get out the Vote’ is a liberal puppet
October 11, 2004
‘Get Out the Vote’ is a liberal group that seeks the election of John Kerry and plays peek-a-boo with its own identity, never actively endorsing the candidate, but calling itself “progressives who want change on Nov. 2.”
Why not simply tell us that they want John Kerry elected and state the reasons he should be in office? That’s reasonable. Here’s why I’m going to vote Bush on Nov. 2:
1) He disarmed Libya, which had weapons of mass destruction.
2) He smoothed out the recession and hastened our return to a 10,000 Dow Jones Industrial Average. More than 1.6 million fewer jobs exist today than when he took office, but, without his policies, this number would look like 4 million. Also, remember that at 5.6 percent unemployment, we are at full employment using ’80s, ’70s, ’60s and ’50s definitions of full employment.
3) He dealt with the Taliban and crippled al-Qaida worldwide. Osama is on the loose, but he’s the spiritual, not logistical, al-Qaida leader.
4) He finished the Iraq job, which should have been done by his father. Yes, there were no WMDs, but that was just one charge on a list of travesties of which Saddam is guilty.
5) He cut taxes. Unfortunately, he did not slash the government, but that is more than Al Gore would have given.
Please, ‘Get Out the Vote,’ in your next e-mail, simply enumerate your reasons Kerry should be elected. He missed a chunk of his Senate votes and is not a centrist (Bush is — think Mexican Amnesty if you disagree).
However, Kerry does have a plan. It’s too bad none of his supporters talk about it.
