LETTER: No hope for political balance
October 21, 2004
Will the American political system ever return to classic debates between two parties on the issues?
Wouldn’t it be nice to see candidates clarify themselves as Democrat and Republican without the “liberal” or “conservative” context?
I think today’s politics make voters look like idiots. Candidates spend more time telling you what is wrong with the other candidate instead of telling their stance and what their ideas are.
Will there ever be a day when candidates from each party come forth, tell their platforms and ideas for if they are elected, and then let the voters decide who they agree or disagree with more? The candidates would simply tell their ideas, not blast the opposing side, and leave it at that. I think it is what the Founding Fathers had in mind and is what they would have liked to see.
