LETTER: America is not a theocracy

In response to Jason Funk’s Sept. 21 letter regarding same-sex marriage, I feel compelled to ask Mr. Funk if he is familiar with the concept of separation of church and state.

The United States is not a theocracy and does not hold any particular religious beliefs to be more correct than others. The question of homosexuality being biblically correct has absolutely no relevance to the question of the legality of same-sex marriage.

If you don’t like it, then perhaps you had best start advocating making Christianity the national religion before you advocate making laws out of dogma.

The church does not dictate law in this country.
