The Inter-Residence Hall Association might spend $1,000 on a student survey.

The bill, presented Thursday, requests money from the special projects account be allocated to a survey administration team for the purpose of creating and distributing surveys to students in the residence halls.

The team would survey students to pinpoint their perceptions, attitudes and desires.

The results would be analyzed and presented to the rest of IRHA.

“This bill will hopefully allow us to make informed decisions about what all of our constituents want while saving us time from talking to each one of them,” said Phil De Koster, Barton, Lyon, Freeman, Fisher-Nickell president.

Another bill, titled “Friley Senate is Always Right,” which gives each house the ability to decide whether to lock the house’s bathroom doors, was passed.

A third bill, titled “I’m Here for the Dance,” requested $1,000 be allocated from the IRHA Special Projects fund to co-sponsor Cy’s 50th Birthday Kickoff with the Government of the Student Body and Homecoming Central. The bill will be discussed further at next week’s meeting.

Maple Hall President Mitch Hayek said he thought it would be a great way to get the residence halls more involved in Homecoming.
