Two presidents will be at the Farm Progress Show on Tuesday, just not at the same time.

ISU President Gregory Geoffroy will speak on Tuesday’s WOI Radio “Talk of Iowa” show, along with Wendy Wintersteen, College of Agriculture senior associate dean, as Geoffroy’s guest.

President Bush will be at the farm show later Tuesday.

The hourlong radio show will broadcast live from the Farm Progress Show in Alleman at 9 a.m.

“There’s been a tradition of the university presidents coming on the program on a monthly basis,” said Katherine Perkins, WOI radio producer.

“The president’s office very often invites other guests to be on the show.”

Wintersteen will be on the talk show as a representative of the College of Agriculture at the Farm Progress Show. She is one of the many ISU faculty and staff that will be at the show to help answer visitors’ questions. ISU faculty and staff will be at the show for all three days.

Perkins said the talk show will probably be centered around Iowa State’s large presence at the show.

“They’ll be talking about the Farm Progress Show, the presence of Iowa State,” said John McCarroll, executive director of university relations. “[They’ll] be talking about some Agricultural College issues, classes reconvening, what’s coming up.”

The show is usually a big deal for Iowa because it is an agricultural state, McCarroll said.

“We thought it would be interesting and fun to have the president go down there. It’s a very natural place for us to be,” McCarroll said. “It’s a major program — very large turnout of people.”

Geoffroy will leave Alleman soon after the radio broadcast. Bush will speak at 3 p.m.

Several other representative parts of the university will be present at the show, including the College of Agriculture, the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and ISU Extension, McCarroll said.

“ISU has one of the big displays at the Farm Progress Show,” said Brian Meyer, director of college relations in the College of Agriculture. “There’s a structure on the Farm Progress Show site that’s full of ISU displays.”
