|Head coach Linda Crum introduces new daughter
The ISU volleyball team will be without the services of head coach Linda Crum for a few weeks. Crum and her husband David, an ISU assistant athletics director, gave birth to a daughter Abigail Allena on Sunday at 10:18 a.m.
Abigail was nine pounds, seven ounces, and 21 inches long.
Job responsibilities will be split between associate head coach Amy Farber Knowles and assistant coach Trent Herman.
Knowles said the transition has gone well mostly due to the preparation of Crum.
“She was very organized which is a large help to a transition like this,” Farber said.
With seven years of head coaching experience, the temporary position is nothing new to Knowles.
“I know I have a job to do for her in getting the team prepared and ready so that when she does return, hopefully, she won’t have felt that any time has passed at all,” Knowles said.
Crum is planning a return on Sept. 13, which is after the Cyclones’ second weekend tournament.
“She’s going to come back for Big 12 [Conference] play,” Knowles said. “She’ll come back for practices on the Monday after the San Antonio tournament and then work her way back up to full days.”
