Corrections for June
June 9, 2004
June 17: The June 15 article ‘Charges against Homan dropped’ contained several factual errors as a result of inappropriate reporting and attribution by a Daily reporter. Comments attributed to Bethany Schuttinga, director of judicial affairs, about Iowa State”s student judicial process were made about the judicial system in general. Schuttinga did not make any statements about ISU men”s basketball player Jared Homan, and the portions of the article suggesting otherwise are inaccurate. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act prohibits ISU officials from discussing individual students” education records. The Daily strives for fairness, completeness, and accuracy in its reporting and regrets this reporting error.
June 17: Due to a reporting error, the June 15 article and headline ‘Stange Road turnaround results in $25,000 damage’ incorrectly stated the total damage from a Monday accident. Instead of $25,000, the figure should have been $8,500. The Daily regrets the error.
June 10: Due to a reporting error, the June 8 article “Wisconsin man turns himself in after warrant issued” did not fully identify Diego Alexander Vega, who was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal mischief. Vega was an ISU student during the spring 2004 semester. He is no longer listed in the online ISU phone directory, and the Office of the Registrar could not be reached late Wednesday. The Daily regrets the error.
June 8: Due to an editing error, the June 3 article “Iowa State prosecutes violations internally” incorrectly identified Jennifer Lescaleet, 2715 Hoover Ave., as a former ISU student who graduated in 2004. Lescaleet graduated in 2001 and is no longer a student, according to the ISU Registrar. The Daily regrets the error.
