Information in the log comes from Ames Police records provided to the Daily. All those accused of violating the law are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

May 30

  • Officers responded to a loud party complaint in Frederiksen Court. A keg was seized and placed in storage.

May 31

  • Jory Punkiewicz, 21, Bettendorf, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated in the area of Hayward Avenue and Mortensen Parkway.

June 1

  • Officers reported to a call on the welfare of two individuals who had been sitting in the lobby of the Memorial Union for several hours.
  • A staff member reported vandalism to a bathroom in the Gerdin Business Building.
  • Kara Gunderson, 208 Ash Ave., reported a tree branch falling on her vehicle in Lot 63.
  • A vehicle driven by Grace Mututo struck a fence in the area of the university. The incident occurred the day before.

June 2

  • Philip Brecht, 25, 293 Village Dr., was charged with interference with official acts after officers approached two individuals having a dispute in the area of the 100 block of Welch Avenue.
  • A staff member reported the theft of a purse from the Veterinary Medicine building.
  • A vehicle struck a pedestrian in the area of Hayward Avenue and Lincoln Way and left the scene.
  • A vehicle in the area of State Avenue was towed after the driver was cited for failing to have a valid driver’s license or proof of insurance.

June 3

  • Jonathan Froiland, 27, 4912 Mortensen Road, was arrested and charged with his second offense operating while intoxicated in the area of Hayward Ave. and Mortensen Parkway.
  • A staff member reported the theft of a wallet in the Memorial Union.
  • A student reported the theft of a wallet in the Armory Building.
  • Mario Perez reported the theft of a bike from Schilletter Village. Theft occurred on May 31 or June 1.
  • Vehicles driven by Jessica Palo and Ross Koppenhaver, both of Ames, were involved in a traffic accident in the area of 13th street and Stange Road.
  • Vehicles driven by Sung Kim and Kevin Hathaway, both of Ames, were involved in a traffic accident in the area of Blankenburg Drive and Stotts Road.

June 4

  • A staff member reported the theft of items from a car in Lot 57.

June 5

  • Creighton Gaynor, 32, 215 North Franklin Ave., was charged with driving under suspension in the area of Campus Avenue and Lincoln Way.
  • Corey Alderin, 2123 Frederiksen Court, reported the theft of a bike in the area of Willow Hall.
  • Vehicles owned by Chunwang Gao and Sreenath Thoka were involved in a property damage collision in the area of University Village.
