Behind the scenes at “RE:NEW”
April 4, 2004
Good fashion takes time and sweat, as “RE:NEW,” the 22nd annual Textiles and Clothing Fashion Show proved last Friday and Saturday.
The show is an annual production held by the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and is a chance for student designers to show off their year’s work.
The models put in relatively less time and work, but still rehearsed for several weeks to be ready. On the evenings of the shows, the models come in more than three hours early to prepare.
Before they put on their extravagant clothes, the models — ISU students and teens and children from the area — crammed into the fitting room in the basement of Fisher Theater to have their faces and hair made over by stylists from the Marc-Stephens and Friends Salon, 526 Main St. of Ames.
The room was crowded enough by the more than 25 models and a dozen stylists to cause a few beads of sweat to appear as the layers of foundation and makeup were applied.
Marc-Stephens and Friends volunteered its services for this year’s and last year’s shows.
