LETTER: Military always deserves support

In reference to David Northwood’s April 13 online feedback letter to the Iowa State Daily, I would like to thank him and all of our veterans, as well as the Americans who are currently serving in our U.S. armed forces.

Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion of United States war involvement; however, no matter what stance one takes on war, it is imperative that the soldiers who are risking their lives never be forgotten or blamed. They do not make the war decisions; they just follow the orders of officials who do.

Our troops need to know we care about them and that we do not blame or disgrace them because they are doing their job.

All of us, whether we are for or against the war in Iraq, need to take time to let the soldiers know we care about them; that their loved ones, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, extended families and friends all miss them and are looking forward to their safe return home.

Please support our troops and keep them in your thoughts and prayers, whether you support the war or not.
