LETTER: LAS dean should be responsible
March 11, 2004
I cannot believe the search committee for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences dean would seriously consider Wolfgang Kliemann for this position, in light of what I believe to be serious moral and ethical lapses.
He is quoted as stating that he did nothing illegal. Falsifying the price of expensive wine (or anything else, for that matter) is certainly illegal. My granddaughters understand that, and they are not 46 years old!
He paid a fine less than the difference in price for one bottle of wine. How many other bottles did he buy and drink before he was caught?
Do we really want the LAS dean, in charge of a huge budget, to be someone that feels stealing is “nothing illegal”?
