LETTER: Government might not always right

Mr. Ready, in your letter you assert that just because the Government of the Student Body moves to “fund” an organization, that organization is automatically deserving of GSB money.

In my opinion, just because a government approves something doesn’t necessarily make it right. I’m sure there are things our national government does you don’t support, just as it does things I don’t support. If that’s not true then you must be positive the question of whether or not the war in Iraq was right was answered the day President Bush sent in troops.

In the last part of your article you alerted Mr. Gingerich that his voice is only “one small voice amongst 28,000,” so he should try to keep it in perspective.

It is my understanding that in our country, everyone is guaranteed free speech.

If this is true, Mr. Gingerich has just as much authority to voice his one voice as you do your one voice.

The reason our country is so great is due to the collective “one voices” of each and every citizen. In light of the upcoming elections, I urge everyone to not keep their one voice in perspective but to make them as loud as possible because everyone has the right to be heard.
