LETTER: Magill/Rock have experience, energy
March 8, 2004
As Government of the Student Body elections are upon us students, I’d like to remind everyone not only to vote, but to vote wisely. The Magill and Rock campaign has impressed me more than any other campaign in my history at Iowa State.
These students have set realistic goals that I believe they will achieve while in office and more. I believe William and Sophia will connect with the many clubs on campus and help them make sure that applying for GSB funds is not a lottery that is sprung on at the last second.
I know William and Sophia cannot lower tuition, but their goal of stabilizing tuition through working with Iowa legislators is very reasonable and a small step made in a big problem.
In the past I’ve seen Sophia actively speaking for reasonable textbook prices, working toward increasing student voters and still remaining very active in dance, including helping out and participating in the valuable dance marathon. William’s name has appeared throughout the tailgating episode wherein he was helping to bring new solutions to the table.
I also appreciate the time he took to talk to me personally about his platform and talking to me as a student and friend, rather than just a potential voter.
Finally, I believe William and Sophie have the charisma and energy to make goals happen. Looking at their Web site set up for the campaign — www.rockwithmagill.com/index.php — gives me a clear idea of who these people are and what they want to accomplish. With Magill and Rock, the choice is clear.
Don’t forget to vote, and to vote for Magill and Rock!
