GSB tables one, reads two bills

The Government of the Student Body Senate voted 25-6 to postpone voting on a bill that would allocate a proposed $23,000 to ISU radio station KURE.

The motion to postpone came from Speaker of the Senate Tony Luken, who said the budget, which had only been available for one day, should be analyzed and possibly reduced by senators before a vote.

The senate also read a resolution that would endorse the Student Health Insurance Committee’s proposal to add a prescription drug benefit plan to Iowa State’s student health insurance package.

The option, if adopted, would charge students a small fee for additional prescription coverage.

The senate then read a bill to fund the ISU women’s hockey club. The organization asked for $3,300 to fund a trip to a national tournament.

The senate will vote on these items at next week’s meeting.
