GSB will consider prescription drug plan for students
March 3, 2004
The Government of the Student Body will introduce a resolution to endorse an ISU plan creating prescription drug benefits for students at its 7 p.m. meeting Wednesday in the Campanile Room of the Memorial Union.
GSB will consider supporting a proposal by Iowa State’s Student Health Insurance Committee that would offer the benefits as a provision for students under the university’s insurance plan.
The resolution identifies a prescription drug benefit option that will meet students’ need for such drug benefits while fitting into their budgets.
The Student Health Insurance Program currently lacks prescription drug benefits.
The bill will only be introduced. According to GSB by-laws, the bill cannot be voted on until senators are given a week to consider the resolution, unless a first read is waived.
The senate will also vote on two funding bills, for radio station KURE and the women’s hockey club.
KURE is asking for $22,913 in funding for computers, phone service, security systems, general equipment and for instant replay equipment. The women’s hockey club is asking for $4,900 in funding.
