LETTER: City Council can affirm civil liberties

On March 23, the Ames City Council will vote on a resolution that will affirm civil liberties and oppose sections of the Patriot Act that are in direct violation of the Constitution of the United States. More than 260 cities throughout the country have passed such resolutions in support of civil liberties, and many different groups from the ACLU to the NRA have banded together in opposition of the Patriot Act.

Local government is the government that has the most influence over the lives of ordinary people. Please, encourage your council member to support this resolution affirming civil liberties for everyone in the city of Ames.
