Iowa State gets another top five finish at National Invitational

The Iowa State men’s golf team finished in fifth place out of 16 opponents at the National Invitational Tournament.
Iowa State has been no stranger to top five finishes to the start of their spring season, with all four of the spring tournaments ending with the Cyclones in the top portion of the leaderboard.
The Cyclones shot 10 under par for the final round by shooting a 278 team score, bringing their overall tournament score to 840 (280-282-278).
Iowa State shot up two places in the final round to end up in fifth place, in large part because of multiple Cyclones finishing with top-15 performances.
Lachlan Barker finished the highest out of all the Cyclones in 11th place. Barker shot 3 under par in the final round, bringing his tournament total to 209 (68-72-69).
Barker racked up 16 more birdies, bringing his season total to 98.
Ricky Costello and Frank Lindwall made their into the top 15 for the first time in the spring season by both tying for 13th place.
Lindwall shot 4 under for the final round and jumped up 17 spots from round two to the final round on the individual standings.
Lindwall ended with a 210 score for the tournament (74-68-68) and shot his second-lowest round of the season with a 68 in the second and final round.
Costello brought a solid performance for the Cyclones as well by setting a career-low round with a 69 in the first and final rounds at the National Invitational.
Costello shot 210 for the tournament (69-72-69) with 13 birdies and six bogies.
Costello set another career record by finishing seven spots higher than his previous career-high finish.

Tripp Kinney: 214 (71-70-73); shot 1 over in the final round.
Sam Vincent: 217 (75-70-72); shot even in final round.
