LETTER: Miller/Riggs, the champagne of GSB
February 26, 2004
Miller High Life is known as the champagne of beers, and Drew Miller should henceforth be known as the champagne of candidates. Why?
Take a look at what this guy has done this year with his position. Who was the heart and soul of the GSB committee on voting? Mr. High Life himself. Not only were many students registered to vote, not only did they vote in the city elections, but thanks to Drew’s work with Matthew Goodman, students can now count on at least one person on the Ames City Council who does not have a bias against students.
That alone should be enough — but wait, there’s more. Not only can you have the High Life, you can have High Life Light. That’s right, if you don’t want a bigger GSB, with more committees, more cabinet positions (read: more executive spending), and just plain more bureaucracy, vote Miller/Riggs.
A leaner, more effective government is the one that I want to serve me, not some fat, slow, lumbering beast that spends more time communicating than acting. Drink good beer and vote for good candidates.
