LETTER: Daily shows lack of judgment, Part II

I hope no one at this university actually opens the Daily hoping to learn something. Because what you get is nothing but worthless misguided articles and pictures.

This has been happening for a while. I think that the major issues that have occurred this year were originally the advertisements for the Lumberyard — and when the staff of the Daily was confronted about this issue, they completely disregarded all the input they received.

Then there was the lack of coverage of the Roe v. Wade anniversary. Regardless of your position on the issue of choice, this was a pivotal day that all should have been aware of. Roe v. Wade and its future will inevitably affect you at some point in your life whether you like it or not.

What really pushed me over the edge was this weekend’s publicity of the Midwestern Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender and Ally College Conference.

The conference was to initiate campus activism and allow students to exchange dialogue around issues that pertained to them.

The Daily represented it as a careless weekend that was used to perpetuate sex. The picture on the front page of Monday’s paper did nothing but incite anger and hostility toward the gay community.

With the history of homophobia and hate crimes on this campus, I would expect the campus paper to have used better sense when it comes to sensitive issues like this one. I am disheartened and repulsed by the continual lack of intelligence that the Daily has presented.
