LETTER: Homosexual sex is dysfunctional

There has been a great deal said about the issue of gay marriage, mostly libel by supporters, and moral demands by conservatives (morality, as a law standard, died in the 1890s, according to “[Our] Republic is an Empire of Law,” by W.H. Taft).

There is something much more pressing than the arguments of said discrimination. Gay marriage may perhaps abate a growing sexually transmitted disease problem by forcing into contract two people for their existence under penalty of remittance.

But we are reminded that dysfunction of a sexual nature is becoming much more accepted in our society, as is evident in the recent Super Bowl halftime show. A by-product of corporate freedom (laissez-faire) has been the sexual expression through the French medieval institution of “love.”

At least love defined in these terms, supported wholly by commercial culture. Sexual promiscuity and dating have destroyed the institution of marriage in our society. It fuels such wonders as reality television and filling our court systems with young despondent individuals without a father or living within a broken home.

The act of homosexuality is no more morally reprehensible than said sexual freedom; the function of sex ultimately is reproduction, and homosexual intercourse can not achieve this.

Thus homosexual sex is dysfunctional. The family is an absolute necessity to produce a healthy society — as is seen in any anthropology or sociology class.

It is the most basic building block of human societies and governments.

Without a complete family, stress is duly increased, and knowledge is not passed as fully as a pure family system.

Gay marriage as law would mean the government would recognize sexual dysfunction of any sort as OK. It would put into the framework of our government and society the continued tearing down of the family institution.

Hereditary nature is the ultimate bond — it is this bond that gives people a safety net, to see our progeny succeed. Any other design would allow corruption and expanded misuse of individuals to better one’s position or to gratify oneself. Androgyny is thus not an option. Families must continually see a benefit from the government for creating a good environment for children to be raised within a hereditary system.

This is already accomplished by marriage. The addition of gay marriage would nullify this type of union and would cause greater discrimination by the passing of heterosexual marriage benefit laws.

In closing, sexually dysfunctional minorities must be kept as minorities with greatest care kept to keep their rights from being trampled; but bringing this into mainstream American society will destroy the last bastion of the family system, by the very laws that it were made to protect it.
