Towers Residence Association to ask for money for last ExTRAvaganza
February 12, 2004
This may be the last year for the annual ExTRAvaganza, a celebration of the Towers Residence Association, as residency is decreasing along with the celebration’s budget.
“It’s a celebration of Towers, and now that Towers has taken on a new shape, it’s probably the last year we’ll be able to do it as Towers,” said Dan Becker, Towers Residence Association treasurer and sophomore in pre-business.
TRA wrote a bill to try to get funding from the Inter-Residence Hall Association in order to hold the event, which will take place on April 3.
The gyro stand on Welch Avenue will be at this year’s ExTRAvaganza along with inflatable games, he said. There will also be multiple bands, fireworks, pop and candy, he said.
ExTRAvaganza is open to everybody and is completely free, he said.
Becker said he thought last year there were about 500 to 600 people present at any given time, many of which were from the residence halls.
TRA is asking for $5,000 from IRHA to help put on a memorable ExTRAvaganza, Becker said.
Another funding bill to be voted on this week asks for $5,250 to be used at each hall desk to update DVD and game collections.
Each hall desk would receive $1 per person they serve.
The IRHA meeting is at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Wallace-Wilson conference room.
