LETTER: Bush’s competency called into question
February 24, 2004
Did Bush lie or mislead the public? This has been a hot topic of late. It has been a question in polls, and a relatively significant number of people believe he did. But when asking this question in regard to the weapons of mass destruction and war issues, it falls short.
If Bush did not lie or mislead the public, then how about the possibility that he and his administration were or are incompetent? This, to me, would be just as bad as lying.
Lying to Congress or the public about going to war or incompetent decision-making are both unacceptable in the executive branch and should be grounds for removal from office via the upcoming election or by the impeachment process.
So let’s add the question of competency to the polls and see how many Americans believe Bush either lied or was incompetent in his decision, and a clearer picture of approval or disapproval will be painted.
