Dethloff receives Big 12 honors
February 26, 2004
After a dominating performance against Minnesota on Saturday, sophomore Erin Dethloff was honored as the Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for the second time this season.
At Minnesota, Dethloff matched two career-high scores in the Cyclones’ victory, taking first place in every event except vault, where she placed second. Dethloff hit career-high marks in the all-around competition (39.6) and the floor exercise (9.95).
The scores bolstered Dethloff’s individual national rankings, where she sits at No. 12 in all-around competition, No. 6 on floor, No. 14 on bars and No. 24 on vault. Dethloff continues her career after a successful freshman season in which she was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and became the first freshman in Cyclone history to receive All-American honors after qualifying individually to nationals in the all-around competition.
This is the third gymnast of the week award for the Cyclones this season.
