LETTER: Marriage is naught but a mockery
February 18, 2004
I would like to make one observation that many seem to have missed, or perhaps even ignored in the rush to condemn homosexual marriages.
Before many of you — in the name of “preserving the sanctity of marriage” — climb up on your high horses and lead a righteous charge against homosexual couples who honestly love and care for each other, consider looking over your shoulders and seeing the circus that has been made of heterosexual marriage while your back was turned.
“Reality” shows such as “Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire,” “Average Joe,” “The Bachelor,” “My Big Fat Obnoxious Fianc‚,” etc., have all made more mockery of marriage in the name of cheap sensationalism than any loving couple, regardless of sexual orientation, possibly could.
