This design of the online edition of the Daily would not have
been possible without the help and/or guidance of the following
individuals:
Venkusa Shah, Vignesh ‘Vic’ Vijayakumar, Jay Maxwell, Deepti
Anand, Andy Ruff, Deidre Calloway, Varun Singh, Mark Witherspoon,
Nicole Paseka, Brian Rumsey, Gayle Dar, Charles Weaver, Eric
Rowley, Nate Hilker, Jeffrey Zeldman and Todd Dominey.
In addition,
the designers would especially like to thank Ramani Kumari for
loaning to us her valuable time in criticizing the site during it’s
initial design phases.
The online edition of the Daily uses valid XHTML (1.0,
transitional) code for markup and level 2 CSS for all presentation
purposes. The redesign was exclusively focussed around the most
current web standards, a factor that benefits us, the publishers of
this online extension and you, it’s readers. We highly recommend to
you using the latest browsers to view this site to derive the level
of user experience we envisioned in building it. For reasons that
do not have to do with this site alone, we recommend using either
the most current version of your browser (if applicable), or using
a modern browser that supports web standards. In other words,
title=”Get a better browser!” href=”http://giantfightingrobots.com/betterbrowser.html”>get a better
browser!
With a more flexible, faster design in place, we have many
expectations and ideas as to how we could enhance this site’s
dynamicity, thereby making your visit to it worthwhile. The release
of certain features exclusively on the website is an instance in
this regard.
Then why doesn’t this site validate?
The reasons are many. For one, we are still in the process of
converting our older archives to use valid markup. A few
limitations with our current publishing application cause ‘archaic’
tags to be used in controlling the layout of our articles,
sections, etc. These issues are being ironed out earnestly, and the
process will take some time.
But why this insane adherence to standards?
This page should clear any doubts. If a few more still stubbornly
“mailto:[email protected]”>drop a line to the designers
with your concerns (or applause, if applicable!). Thank you for your time.
