LETTER: University policies unfairly target Cuffs
January 21, 2004
Have you ever been to the library on a Thursday evening? If you haven’t, let me try to describe what one might observe while taking a break from his or her studies on Parks’ front steps.
Imagine 20 to 30 hormone-fueled, blood-thirsty individuals, running around a confined area, each armed with their weapon of choice, relentlessly beating one another to the ground until it is determined that a “winner” has been found.
I’m curious though, how many articles have you seen in the Daily about investigations of the Medieval Re-Creationists Club?
I’m not a member of Cuffs, I haven’t been to one of their meetings, nor do I know more than the first thing about sadomasochism.
What bothers me about this situation is that it appears to me to be blatantly obvious that the university is going out of its way to make a big deal about this one event, especially when the same thing happens at the activities of other organizations on a weekly basis.
