LETTER: Frederiksen thefts perhaps preventable
January 21, 2004
Maybe now, after the string of recent thefts at Frederiksen Court during break, the Department of Residence will be more stringent about which employees access students’ rooms — and how they do it. As it is right now, just about any University employee — maintenance, cleaning crews and a slew of other “Frederiksen Court staff” — can come and go as they please in the apartments.
How hard would it be to give a 24-hour notice on non-emergency issues? Not only would this be more convenient for students (no staffers coming in just as you’re coming out of the shower), but it would also make it harder for the kind of thefts that happened during break to locked apartments in several different buildings at Frederiksen Court to happen.
Maybe after my roommate’s, my own, and several other people’s losses, the DOR and the Frederiksen Court office will finally do something to keep these things from happening again.
