LETTER: It’s absurd to claim lectures are diverse
December 2, 2003
For the lecture series to claim a lack of bias in their Dec. 1 letter, “Adequate balance is found in lectures,” is beyond hubris. Citing two conservative speakers from the first semester against at least 13 speakers listed on their Web site who could be described as liberal that they have hosted this year is a little hypocritical.
While the lecture series does a wonderful job of hosting a wide variety of famous speakers, diversity in political views seems to be lacking.
The university would be much better served if concerns of bias were taken seriously instead of just throwing conservatives a bone every second month.
