LETTER: Peet’s columns show hypocrisy

This letter is in regard to Amy Peet’s Dec. 3 column, “Kerry’s campus visit recalls liberal hypocrisy.”

I must presume this young lady has not heard Rush Limbaugh’s radio show or seen Bill O’Reilly’s “The O’Reilly Factor.” I say this because she mentions they don’t just say that their opponents are wrong but rather discuss how and why they are wrong. Clearly, she is either mistaken or joins the ranks of hypocrites with both Limbaugh (referencing to his comments on prescription drug abusers when he is one himself) and O’Reilly (who claims to be a registered independent when he, according to government records, has always registered Republican), and even the current federal administration (insinuating a connection between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaida before the war and then revealing, after the public believed the lie, there was absolutely no evidence to support it).

I have intelligent Republican friends, and Amy Peet’s columns are as much of an insult to them as they are a slight to liberals. I honestly want to know if she has multiple job offers from Fox News and the Iraqi Information Ministry.

I apologize if this came out as a personal attack, because it isn’t. This is merely meant as a statement to urge people to actually research the topic you (anyone who writes in) are going to write on and an attack on bad journalistic practices. I especially appreciate when expert faculty or staff write in to correct misinformation and would like to see more of that.
