Volleyball team wins home match against Oklahoma

The ISU volleyball team snapped a five-match losing streak Wednesday night, beating Oklahoma 3-2 in Hilton Coliseum.

The victory gave Iowa State its most wins ever in a season in the Big 12 conference at 4-15, with an overall mark of 12-19. It was also the first time the Cyclones had swept a conference opponent in two matches in a single season since 1995.

The match was the last home appearance for seniors Renae Pruess, Dana Koziol, Michelle Gannon and Lindsey Chapman. Chapman was continuing her indefinite suspension for violation of team rules and did not play.

“We have had a lot of injuries, and have shuffled people around to different positions,” head coach Linda Crum said. “We tried to prepare for Oklahoma by putting our focus on our fight and heart. Winning against the Sooners means a lot to us.”

Overall, Iowa State was led by Pruess with 17 kills and 14 digs, junior Brittany Dalager had a career-high of 45 sets and sophomore Ashlie McWee had a career-high of 11 blocks. Koziol had 23 digs in the defensive effort.
