LETTER: Abortion dialogue is not meaningful
November 21, 2003
While I will neglect to expound upon my own views on abortion, I would like to call into question why the Daily prints so many letters on abortion in its opinion section. Yesterday, out of the six letters printed, five of them were about abortion, namely, why it is murder.
I have no complaint about the Daily’s impartiality, but I do wonder why abortion has been featured so prominently. There are many other issues that could be discussed, and most of them have a far better chance of resulting in meaningful dialogue than the abortion issue. After a semester of letters, the arguments are still the same, and none of the letters printed yesterday brought up anything new, insightful or even thought-provoking.
While the Daily is obviously going to continue to print the letters it receives, I think most readers would appreciate if a largely unresolvable topic like abortion was not the only issue covered.
