LETTER: Denner deserves our student support

Are you tired of living in a community that treats you like a second-class citizen? A community that ignores your contributions and offers you only minimum-wage employment to pay for exploitation by the lesser landlords of Ames? Isn’t it time students take control?

Matt Denner is a resident of Ames who respects the views and needs of students because he is a student. As a child, Matt enjoyed the great benefits of living near the thousands of students at Iowa State. He learned a great deal from those students and continues to learn from his peers today. Denner has also learned a great deal from our community leaders as a member of the Public Arts Commission and as a community activist. However, Denner has also learned that Ames needs a change.

We as students and voters can help make that change. With Matt Denner holding the next fourth ward City Council seat, we can finally expect to be treated with respect and watch a new future for the city develop.

If you believe, as I do, that we can’t wait for a more experienced, closed-minded candidate to turn his ear toward us, choose change and vote for Matt Denner. We need his vision, his openness and his energy in the City Council today.
