IRHA to reduce cost of tickets

The experience of medieval dining and music may come at a discounted price to some students in the residence halls.

The Inter-Residence Hall Association will discuss a funding bill Thursday to reduce the costs of 60 tickets to the ISU Music Department’s annual medieval dinner.

The “Madrigal-ly Delicious” bill asks for $1,080 to be used to reduce the cost of tickets to $10, said Dan Burke, representative for Barton, Lyon, Freeman and Fisher-Nickell Halls and author of the bill.

The dinner, which has a medieval atmosphere, costs $28 for students to attend, he said.

IRHA was able to reduce the costs of nearly 100 tickets in the past two years, he said.

This year, IRHA would like to provide 60 tickets at a reduced price to students in the residence halls.

“I think it’s a unique experience for residence hall students who have never been to a recreation of medieval times,” Burke said.

Burke also authored a bill that asks IRHA for funds to support Richardson Court Association’s participation in Varieties.

Varieties is musical production that is created, directed and choreographed by students, and RCA has been the only residence hall association to participate in previous years, he said.

The funding bill is asking for $500 from IRHA’s discretionary account to help pay for costumes, set and props, he said. The IRHA meeting is at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Wallace-Wilson conference room.
