LETTER: Presidential lecture series is beginning
November 13, 2003
Iowa State has created a new lecture series to provide the entire Ames/Iowa State community with an opportunity to benefit from the tremendous knowledge, expertise and insight of Iowa State’s premier faculty. ÿIt’s called the Presidential University Lecture, with the presentations to be tailored for a general audience consisting of community members, faculty, staff and students from across the university.
The first lecture will be by Distinguished Professor of Animal Science Max Rothschild Thursday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union. Dr. Rothschild is one of the world’s leading genetic scientists. The title of his lecture is “From a Sow’s Ear to a Silk Purse.” Given his experience and success in swine genetics, this should be a fascinating lecture; not only for scientists and students in the biological sciences, but for anyone with an interest in this very important and rapidly changing discipline.
This lecture is free and open to everyone. It’s a great opportunity to learn about what this exciting science holds for us in the future, and to hear it from someone we know — someone who just happens to be shaping that future.
Please join us Thursday evening, Nov. 13 in the Memorial Union.
