LETTER: Vote Gyro Man for Ames City Council
November 3, 2003
We work at the Gyro stand in Campustown, and we love our job. We love our job because it is challenging and fun at the same time. We are told nightly what a great job we do, how friendly, polite and patient we are and how our gyros rock.
The gyros pretty much take care of themselves, but we, the employees, find it as imperative to do the best job we can. We find it the only way to be because of our boss, Matthew Goodman: The Gyro Man. He has taught us how to treat everyone fairly as the sign of respect everyone deserves. He is an extremely effective and treasured leader because he lives what he says. People respond to that manner of principled living: He brings people together. Matthew is a paragon of honesty, integrity and fairness — you can sense it.
Matthew Goodman is the reason you love coming to the stand every night in Campustown, and why you return to us again and again at local festivals. He is the reason you smile at all of us, and why we smile so earnestly at you: We love it out there, and so do you. Matthew has done this. He has created the near-utopia that is the Gyro stand. He has created a family out of his employees, and we all extend that loving gesture to you. Matthew Goodman has built a community out respect, honesty, trust, fairness and goodness. It is our hope all of Ames can be touched by Matthew’s integrity and spirit: on Nov. 4, elect Matthew Goodman to be the next At-Large City Council member.
