LETTER: Goodman a student defender, supporter
October 30, 2003
Recently, the Ames Tribune ran an article discussing the significance of the relationship between the City of Ames and ISU students in the upcoming student election. The article correctly pointed out relationships between the city and the students have become strained.
I am writing to suggest Matthew Goodman is a particularly well-qualified candidate for the open at-large seat on City Council both as an advocate for student issues and as a representative of the resident and business community.
I’ve known Matthew since he was an active member of the GSB Senate as a strong voice for student rights.
He is an articulate and passionate defender of students in this community, but he is also now a resident and small-business owner in Ames.
He understands the needs and issues of that constituency as well. Matthew Goodman can bring knowledge and experiences to the council that will help develop a positive and productive environment for the diverse interests that make up this community.
In an election where the voters will have a range of choices for several of the open City Council seats, Matthew Goodman is the choice that offers the best voice for the community as a whole, both now and in the future.
