LETTER: Goodman’s virtues qualify Council seat
October 31, 2003
We wish to share our enthusiasm and urge others to support Matthew Goodman in his bid for the at-large City Council seat. Matthew is a sincere, trustworthy and truly dedicated Ames resident. He recognizes the growing rift between ISU students and the permanent residents of Ames, and we believe he has the unique abilities to help unify the city.
Being an ISU alum and the “Gyroman” of Welch Avenue, he understands students’ concerns and he continues to interact and hear the opinions of these valued citizens. Since graduating, Matthew still makes Ames his home and he eagerly participates in numerous community organizations and activities. He would integrate his experiences as an ISU graduate and small business owner to serve as a bridge between students and residents.ÿ
Matthew listens carefully and strives to fully understand an issue before making a reasoned judgment. He argues passionately for causes that are important to him, and we have no doubt that this spirit would benefit the people he would represent. Choosing the right person for this seat is no easy task, since many qualified people are vying for the position. However, Matthew stands out at once as being charismatic and eager, thoughtful and in touch.
