Demanding schedules and little personal time are only part of what it’s like for Iowa State’s student body leaders as they strive every day to lead and represent students at Iowa State, the Ames community and the state of Iowa.
This series will portray the stresses and frustrations of five Government of the Student Body officials — President Mike Banasiak, Vice President Ben Albright, Chief of Staff Kari Hoefer, Finance Director David Boike and Speaker of the Senate Tony Luken — as they go about their day as representatives of the ISU student body.
Looking around a typical classroom, many students don’t know the person they’re sitting next to could be responsible for actions affecting all students on campus.
This series will introduce to students those people responsible for making numerous decisions daily on the behalf of ISU students — decisions that can greatly affect students’ everyday lives.
For the first time, Daily readers will be provided an in-depth and detailed inside view of the hectic schedules these student officials maintain as they lead the students of Iowa State.
Discover what a typical day is like for this series’ first individual, GSB President Mike Banasiak. Learn how difficult it is for this junior in management to get away from the rigors of his job at home. Discover why he decided to leave his family in Maryland to learn with and lead ISU students as president of the Government of the Student Body.
