LETTER: Music is still good when it hits radio

I have always had a problem when people dislike music strictly because it hits the radio or, God forbid, Top Forty radio.

The fact is, people who latch on to Indie rock are caught in a catch-22 because part of what they like about it is that not everyone likes it. If everyone liked those Indie bands music elitists search all the time for, they would cease to be Indie. If everyone on this planet loved Ben Lee and he was on the radio constantly and nobody listened to Eminem, the people who love “underground” and unknown bands might latch on to his sound and praise him for his innovation.

It’s been a long time since “Atliens” for Outkast, so should I just start moaning about how Andre sold out, even though I still like his sound and I really don’t think it has changed or evolved that much? I think a stance like that is purely asinine.

Frankly, and I don’t think I’m the only one here, I don’t know if there is anything I would enjoy more than seeing some music elitist roll out of a moving vehicle into oncoming traffic because of his inability to cope with the devil that is radio!
