LETTER: Limbaugh’s ‘racism’ isn’t biggest trouble

It doesn’t really surprise me that Rush Limbaugh made a comment on national television that got him in big trouble. He has always made his living by having a big mouth, but now he’s paying for it. Doesn’t he remember what happened to Sen. Trent Lott not too long ago? Mr. Limbaugh really should know better, as racism or comments that seem racist (pick whichever you prefer) are no longer (publicly) accepted in our society.

What bothers me about this is that the media is paying much more attention to this than is necessary. This isn’t the most serious problem facing our nation today. Why aren’t the media putting the same amount of pressure on our president and his administration that they have put on Mr. Limbaugh? They have misled the country repeatedly, and our vice president is using his position to enrich his personal wealth and then trying to tell us it’s his “executive privilege.”

Administration officials seem to think it’s fine to leak personal information about CIA operatives to the press when their spouses write public commentary the administration doesn’t like.

And what about our daily lives? Isn’t the administration supposed to be looking out for our prosperity? Tuition at public universities is skyrocketing. People everywhere are losing their jobs or have lost them already, and have to take lower-paying, dead-end jobs to try to pay the bills, if they can find another job at all. What is the president and his administration trying to do to help us?

Don’t try to tell me his tax cuts are helping. These tax cuts are only giving his rich friends more incentives to lay off more workers and move jobs overseas, while working families get a piddly $300 check. How long does $300 last when you have no job and children to feed and clothe?

I really don’t care about accusing Rush Limbaugh and his “racism” when our nation’s economy is tanking and our international reputation has been ruined. The media should also take this into account.
