LETTER: Expressing voice on ballot is democratic
October 8, 2003
It looks like the voters have spoken in California. Despite the far superior get-out-the-vote organization possessed by the Democrats, results show the citizens of our nation’s largest state chose to overwhelmingly oust Gov. Gray Davis. Even more, California’s voter turnout was much higher, perhaps 10 percentage points higher, than last election’s.
How will the left explain this? Maybe they took Jason Noble’s silly Oct. 6 column in the Daily to heart and didn’t even show up to vote. If not expressing your voice on a ballot is their definition of democratic, at least half of the people of California can be thankful we live in a democracy.
