LETTER: Exercise no longer a student priority
October 1, 2003
After spending a few years here now, and it seemed like every time I went to Lied Recreation Center to play basketball or do anything else it was totally full. Some Mondays you couldn’t even find a court to just warm up on. This year, every time I have gone to play the vast majority of courts have been open and it just seems like the whole place is just vacant.
What is the cause of this? What happened from last year to this year to cause this apparent drop in usage of the rec? I recently heard the great state of Mississippi passed us for the fattest state in the union, but it looks like we’re heading right back to the top, baby.
Honestly, if you have a free night sometime, come on down and join everyone for a pick-up game. Yesterday I played, and I was not completely irrelevant to the game, which is amazing considering my extremely poor playing ability. It’s a good time — let’s try and get the rec back to its old glory.
