Men’s golf team finishes sixth

ISU sophomore Tyler Swanson carded his lowest round of the tournament yesterday, leading the Cyclones to a sixth-place finish at the Kansas Invitational at Alvamar Golf Club in Lawrence, Kan.

Swanson shot a 2-under-par 70 Tuesday in his final round to finish the tournament in a three-way tie for second at 3-under-par 213. Swanson shot 71 and 72 in the first two rounds of the 54-hole tournament on Monday.

Andrew Price of Kansas carded a 9-under-par 207, the lowest score of the tournament by six strokes, to lead Kansas to the runaway team victory. Kansas shot a 9-under-par 855 team score.

Texas placed second, shooting 872 as a team, 17 shots behind Kansas. Wichita State placed third, carding a 12-over-par 876. Louisville (877) finished fourth and Oral Roberts (881) finished fifth. The Cyclones shot 883, 19 over par, to finish sixth in the 15-team field.

Playing as an individual, junior Corey Schultz carded a 5-over-par 77 in both of his first two rounds and 3-over-par in his last round to finish tied for 60th at 13 over par, with a final score of 229.

The Cyclones return to the links next week at the Baylor Invitational in Waco, Texas.
